Some of the most common causes of claims on a Home insurance policy are listed below. This list is not a complete list merely some examples.
How much home insurance you need completely depends on what you want to protect.
The main coverage on a home policy will protect the cost to rebuild your home should something catastrophic like a fire or tornado completely destroy it. Then we protect your personal property and provide you with Liability protection and much much more.

The main coverage on a home policy is Dwelling Coverage (also known as Coverage A). It will protect the cost to rebuild your home should something catastrophic like a fire or tornado completely destroy it. The cost of Home insurance will vary depending on the size of house you own. Then it will also depend on your credit history, your homeowners claim history, the zip code your house is in and many other factors.
A Homeowners Insurance policy usually covers jewelry but at a bare minimum limit. If your policy limit per item for jewelry is $500 and your item is worth $5000, if its stolen you would only get the policy limit of $500. The best way to insure jewelry is to schedule it. When you schedule jewelry you are insuring for the replacement cost of the item. Depending on the company, you can schedule it on your Homeowners policy or on a separate policy specifically for personal property. Either way there is an additional cost to insure high value jewelry items. An appraisal of the item you want to insure that is less than 3 years old is usually required.
YES! There are many.
One of the most important optional coverages is commonly referred to as SEWER and DRAIN Back-Up coverage. This can cover you if you have a sump pump that fails and water over flows into your basement. It can also cover you if you have a sewer in your basement and the sewer backs up into your basement and causes damage.
If you didn't select this coverage on your policy, then you would pay for the damage out of your own pocket.
Many people confuse this with FLOOD insurance. That is not what this is.
The short answer is no. Flood Insurance is a separate policy that you may have to purchase if your lender discovers you are in a high risk flood zone.
If your lender requires you to purchase flood insurance, or if you want to buy it for peace of mind, we can put that in place for you too!

Yes. A Homeowners policy is usually billed annually. If your bank is not paying your policy from your escrow account, or you do not have a lender, then you could set up monthly payments.
There are many different studies and surveys that seem to come back with different answers to that question. JD Power is one of the industry leaders when it comes to this. They rate overall satisfaction, claim satisfaction and cost of insurance satisfaction.
Most of the companies that AAIA can place you with are on the top of their recent list.
First determine if the damage you are going to claim is above your deductible. We recommend having a reputable company come out and give you an estimate.
If the damage is above your deductible then you should call your agent or you can call the 800 number for the company you are insured with to file a claim.
Usually when an insurer looks back at your claim history they can only see the past 5 years.
So if you had a claim 6 years ago or more no claim would show.
Every Insurance policy has a declarations page.
This is usually the first page or pages of the policy that lists or "Declares" the coverages on the policy. When you purchase any insurance policy or when the policy renews, its very important to review the Declarations Page, and ask your agent questions to make sure that you are covered appropriately.
If you are buying a home or you already own one, you need Home Insurance. If you are financing your home, your lender will require you to have an insurance policy in place before they approve your loan.
Contact AAIA we can handle all of the lender requirements to get you to your loan closing.
